Can you share with me how you two met and how it began?
We met the best way - through friends! One of Anna's best friend’s husband met Sean while they were living and working together out East. Sean and Anna casually heard about the other through those friends but didn't end up meeting each other until about a year after they arrived in Edmonton because of Covid. However, one warm sunny evening in July, they finally all went out for dinner, which led to more group hangouts and eventually one on one hangouts with Sean and Anna. Sean and Anna bonded over Formula 1 racing, cooking, sanitizing, painting, baking, and going for walks. What started as a great friendship developed into a lovely relationship over a couple of months!
Also, how long have you been dating?
We have been dating since March 20, 2022 (when Anna asked Sean out!), so about a year and a half.
What were the most romantic things he/she did?
For me (Anna), it's hard to pick the most romantic thing as Sean does a lot of romantic things! But one that stands out to me is while he was away for work on the east coast for four months, on Valentine’s Day he texted me to look in the back pocket of his jeans in the closet. I looked and there was the cutest card that said, "you're my lucky charm" with a sweet handwritten note inside and then later that day he sent me flowers. I was so touched by his intricate planning and thoughtfulness (and sneakiness)!
For me (Sean), what stands out to me is when Anna had planned a surprise date after four months of me being away for work. The day started off with her making breakfast for me and then later she gave me flowers and brought me out for dinner and an event. To my surprise, the event was the circus! Despite the circus being a bit lame, we had a great time together with lots of laughs. We then finished off the date with my favorite, ice cream and a movie at home.
How did he propose?
After going for dinner, Sean suggested we go for a walk at one of our favorite places along Ada Boulevard and Concordia University. When we got to the lookout spot as the sun was beginning to set over the city, Sean said he had an activity for us to do (I wasn't surprised by this as Sean is always doing cute things for us). Sean then pulled out tiny puzzle pieces from his pocket and we started to work on a puzzle. As we were putting it together, I realized that it was a photo of us, but I was confused as it seemed like there were some pieces missing! I asked Sean about this and he just said it was a tricky puzzle and kept going. As we got to the end, I told him I was certain we were missing pieces and in response he pulled out more puzzle pieces from his pocket and told me to put them together. As I put them together, I realized there was writing on them and I spelt, "me". Once I saw that word, the tears just poured from my eyes and Sean got down on one knee, took out a beautiful ring, and asked me to marry him! Sean told me he picked that spot to propose as it was the same place I asked him to date and now it was his turn to ask me a question (The little puzzle we were putting together was a photo of us from our recent trip to Disney World in a heart shape with the words, "Marry Me?" )
